From the new doc: Wrestling for Jesus by Fourth Line Films. This scene has two cameras. One has a deeper gamma and slightly greater red cast to the midtones than the other. Before I can get artistic, the suckers need to match so I neutralize every shot.
Most of the shots are dark, which is good…no blown highlights and the director wants to crush blacks throughout so it was shot correctly up front. But at this stage a simple push to fill up the range is all that’s needed.
More stuff coming in the next couple weeks about the grade, thought behind styles, and what the director tells me he hates across the next couple weeks.
