While I don’t plan on blogging each day I’m down here in class I’d like to post up a quick review of the day. We showed up at Roush Media early and there are about 12 of us in the class. Interestingly, only 3 of us are full time colorists. There are couple DITers and a a few editors wanting to be in the know.
Kevin did a great job laying things out while stuffing our heads full of color theory, practice, and science. All of which we’ll use in the following two days. He assured us not each day is going to be as intense as this one was. I came away with 5 pages of notes and still have the slides and presentation from class we’re going to get.
It was about a 50/50 split for me with things I did know and things I didn’t. Very quickly I identified 3 areas of weakness and bad habits I need to break immediately and a small list of tips I’ll be using from here forward. All of these will make me more efficient and more consistent with my grades.
Overall, a completely worthwhile expenditure and great time spent. I’ve gotten to meet a few new peeps and Twitter folks which is as always, a highlight. My evenings are as hoped, booked meeting with friends and a wee bit of networking. I’ll post a few more things as I get inspired (easy to to do sitting in a theatre suite with 7 Nucoda/Resolve systems. If you have any doubts about taking this class, put them aside and do it. I can’t wait to get back to my studio and get cracking on more stuff but I have an entire week to go still!
