Gallatin and Lewis and Clark National Forests

My family has a cabin in the woods. Not the scary kind though. Very comfy and bordering two great national forests with well-maintained and marked double-track. As I’ve mentioned, this is the first summer I’ve actively started riding up there. Not sure why I haven’t started this sooner.

The climbs are long and the descents just as long. A large trail network links everything together. Elevations range from 5000’-8000’.

Last weekend, my buddy Luke and I went out for about three and a half hours and just under 3K’ in gain. Epic views, climbs and killer downhills. On one descent, we passed two four-wheelers. I laughed later saying that out of everything they thought they could possibly see on their trip, a couple of mountain bikers were not it.
