That caused me to reflect on where I’m at ten years later. As I walked through the house gathering my things for work, my 22mo son ran around laughing and my wife was making breakfast I told her, “You know, I get to make films, I’m playing music again, I make money and I have an awesome family. I don’t think I could ask for anything more.”
Truthfully, there are a lot more blessings aside from that but I’m also struck by what I’ve been through to get here. This is my second marriage, something like third or fourth career. It took ten years, some horrendous times and some wonderful times for the Creator to get me to the place I am today. I have a long way to go, but at least now, I’ve finally figured out contentment.
I’m reminded again of Philippians 1:6 – “ 6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” (ESV)
So I guess I have hope for my Magpie issues…stupid little new shiny things 😉
